Actelis Networks is revolutionizing mobile networks with its new ML650 Ethernet Access Device, designed specifically to optimize mobile backhaul deployments. The ML650 provides a combination of Ethernet and TDM circuits for 2G, 3G, and 3.5G basestations with up to 100 Mbps of connectivity delivered over existing copper facilities. The ML650 is intended for Mobile Carriers, ILECs, and CLECs that wish to migrate to a converged Ethernet network while maintaining their TDM circuits without sacrificing any service reliability.

The key obstacles to delivering TDM circuits over Ethernet as a carrier-class transmission service is clocking accuracy and holdover, service reliability, and Quality of Service. To date, shortcomings in this area have hindered the wide-scale adoption of Ethernet in the transport and Metro networks. The ML650 effectively and uniquely solves these hurdles by introducing an innovative resilient clocking solution with timing accuracy and holdover superior to that provided by traditional T1/E1 circuits. Actelis’ solution complies with wander and jitter requirements of ITU-T G.823/G.824 for synchronization interfaces, finally making Ethernet genuinely carrier-class and mobile-ready for the first time. Actelis developed this advanced clock transmission mechanism to eliminate all carrier concerns related to clock recovery over pseudowire. Actelis’ architecture ensures that the ML658 provides its users with the best clock accuracy and reliability of any Ethernet backhaul solution.
